SPAN FLOORS, a specialist in premium wood flooring and architectural surface systems, has announced the launch of Terrafina Exterior Decking, a new outdoor decking solution designed to align outdoor surfaces with contemporary interior design trends. A defining feature of Terrafina is its extra-wide 400 mm planks with lengths exceeding three metres, a format rarely available in conventional decking systems. Traditional decking boards typically range between 120 mm and 150 mm in width, creating a surface with many visible joints. By contrast, Terrafina’s wider format produces a calmer and more architectural deck surface with significantly fewer visual breaks.
The system has also been developed with a palette of soft pastel wood tones, responding to a noticeable shift in interior design towards lighter wood flooring colours. Over the past few years, architects and designers have increasingly used pastel-toned wood flooring indoors, including washed oak shades, muted greys, and soft natural tones that create relaxed, contemporary interiors. However, outdoor decking materials have largely remained limited to darker wood tones, making it difficult to maintain visual continuity between interior floors and exterior decks.
Terrafina addresses this gap by allowing designers to extend similar colour palettes from indoor wood flooring to terraces, balconies, roof gardens, and poolside decks, enabling a more seamless transition between interior and outdoor spaces. The wide plank proportions further enhance this visual continuity. With fewer joints across the surface, the deck appears more aligned with modern interior flooring scales, giving outdoor areas a cleaner and more refined architectural character. Engineered using high-performance composite materials, Terrafina is designed for durability in demanding outdoor environments. The boards offer resistance to moisture, temperature variations, abrasion, and insect attack while maintaining dimensional stability over time. The decking surface is splinter-free and slip-resistant, allowing comfortable barefoot use and making it suitable for residential terraces as well as hospitality spaces, rooftop lounges, and pool decks. The system also incorporates a concealed fixing mechanism, enabling installation without visible screws and creating a clean, uninterrupted surface.
