Smart kitchen is the buzzword in terms of evolving technology. Smart kitchens are those kitchens that are carefully designed to save time and energy with the help of appropriate technology, i.e Wi-Fi, cameras, software, Bluetooth enabled appliances.
What new shifts have you observed in the kitchen spaces off recently?
There is a need for energy and water efficiency in kitchens spaces through connected products with sensors, entertainment and communication. New kitchen design is emerging from nature-inspired themes, Organic/ natural styles are prominent in Kitchens with increased natural light will be prominent features.
How have things changed design wise and technically in designing kitchens post pandemic?
There is demand for multi-functional spaces, like large kitchen islands for food preparation that also function as dining tables, homework/WFH, and flexible space for other activities.
Coming years what new can we see in the modular kitchens or overall kitchen space? Your views
In coming years kitchen spaces will see the following trends –
- Cleanliness: easy-to-clean surfaces and countertops that are easy to maintain.
- Functional: Simple/functional and open kitchens with flexible ergonomically designed spaces.
- Sustainable design: LED lighting, Energy efficient products, fixtures with sensors, products with recycled materials & home automation.
Technical innovation required in modular kitchens in India.
Kitchen design is a specialised job that solves problems and makes the experience of cooking enjoyable while reducing time and effort. As families in India are evolving, so is the requirement of technical innovations in modular kitchens particularly to solve Indian families’ changing requirements.
