Inspired by landscapes that have been shaped by the interplay of nature and human intervention, Magari Furniture’s new NOMA collection brings the character of landscapes into contemporary homes this festive season. Drawing from sculpted landforms creating striking contours and geometric salt pans transforming vast expanses into intricate compositions, the collection translates these expressions of human ingenuity into contemporary furniture. Through sculptural silhouettes, tactile materials and considered detailing, NOMA celebrates the beauty of altered terrain, creating pieces that lend individuality to everyday spaces.
At the heart of NOMA lies the belief that it is the smallest details that define the character of a design. Much like the interventions that shape a landscape, skilled craftsmanship transforms familiar materials into distinctive expressions. Leather is explored beyond conventional upholstery through hand-smoking, ruffled edging and patchwork, while interwoven straps, looped details and raw ventral surfaces introduce a rich interplay of texture and tactility. These expressive elements find balance in sculpted wooden frames and subtle brass accents, where softness meets structure and refinement meets irregularity. The resulting collection celebrates the warmth of natural materials and the individuality of handcrafted design, creating pieces that are as compelling in their details as they are in their presence. The pieces are designed to be lived with, gathered around and appreciated well beyond the festive season.
The collection brings together sofas, lounge chairs, armchairs, and dining chairs, each distinguished by sculptural forms, tactile materials, and thoughtful detailing. Among its defining pieces are Zuka and Kyo, two distinctive armchairs that embody NOMA’s exploration of contemporary form, material expression and refined craftsmanship.
ZUKA: Crafted from European kiln-dried ash wood, its solid wooden frame flows in a continuous line around the upholstered seat and curved backrest, offering both visual fluidity and comfortable support. The upholstery combines textured fabric and leather with a soft, velvet-like appearance, creating a rich play of textures inspired by the varied surfaces of the natural landscapes.
KYO: Kyo reinterprets the classic easy chair through a relaxed leather seat and a smooth, sculpted organic frame crafted from European kiln-dried ash wood. The single-layer leather seat features ruffled detailing, allowing the material to drape naturally and create a hammock-like seating experience that adapts to the user’s form. A suspended leather neck pillow, secured with straps and supported by a metal rod, offers adjustable comfort while adding a distinctive visual detail to the chair’s silhouette.
“With NOMA, we wanted to explore how the beauty of landscapes shaped by human intervention could find expression in furniture through form, material and craftsmanship. Every detail, from the treatment of leather to the sculpting of wood, contributes to the character of each piece. As homes take on a special significance during the festive season, becoming places where families come together and memories are made, we see furniture as an important part of that experience. NOMA brings together character, comfort and individuality in designs that can make these moments more meaningful and remain relevant in the home for years to come,” said Amitha Madan, Co-Founder & Director – Design, Magari Furniture.
With its sculptural forms, rich textures and distinctive craftsmanship, NOMA brings a considered expression of contemporary design to the home, creating spaces that feel welcoming, individual and ready for the moments that matter.
