What do you have to say about the evolving trends and technologies in the modular kitchen space?

Kitchens have changed drastically over the last decade or so, and so    has   the requirements of the end user. Modular kitchens have started dominating the markets in the recent times. Storage units have modified themselves in to space saving units like magic corners, also giving the end user multiply storage ideas to choose from. Modular kitchens have taken over from the traditional built on-site kitchens due to their finer and better finishes, more creative storage possibilities, faster installation as less work and labour on site helping site closures faster.

What new shifts have you observed in the kitchen spaces off recently?

Thoughtful and detailed planning of storage, clean lines yet homely designs, use of island counters where possible to ease the use of preparing and organising, place for a lot of storage, maximise the natural light and fresh air into the kitchen as that’s very important.

Shift to appliances which are tech aided and easy to clean surfaces . USE of fresher and pastel colour palate rather than sticking to whites n beige to add sense of freshness and a fun space to be in as a lot of time is spent there.

How have things changed design wise and technically in designing kitchens post pandemic?

Personally, for me and I can say for most, we all want positivity, freshness and colour to move away from a depressing past few years. We have started using a lot of colours in our designs to get out that positivity, being it in counter tops, paints, cabinets or accessories. BEFORE THE PANDEMIC kitchens were being used more by house help, but during the Pandemic we started using the same extensively and that’s when we realised how so many basic things were missing or not planned for.

The biggest trend is financial, as pandemic has made our clients more committed to investing time and money in their homes.

The emphasis on health and wellness brought on by the pandemic has accelerated the changing perception of the home, “touchless kitchen faucets are a “must-have” for making their home healthier. And the touchless options go beyond sinks and toilets, including touchless and voice-controlled appliances, such as refrigerators, ovens, and dishwashers.

“Home has become a sanctuary for many during the pandemic, and the kitchen is moving away from clean and modern, or what people typically think of when considering the future,

“Kitchens seem to be moving toward a more liveable, cosy, and approachable environment.”

For kitchen styles, Contemporary, Transitional, and Organic/Natural followed by Farmhouse/Cottage, Mid-Century, Coastal/Beach, and Eclectic. Whites dominate the colour schemes, but grays, beiges, and blues are also strong. Mint greens have become a very popular choice recently as it evokes freshness and a positive yet peaceful vibe.

Coming years what new can we see in the modular kitchens or overall kitchen space? Your views

See a growing trend toward large islands for food prep that also function as dining tables, homework and work from home; flexible space for home office activities; pantries that include space for storage and a working area for small appliances; and workstation sinks with built-in features (drying racks, cutting boards, etc.)

Top trends will see designs include open layouts with large islands, minimalistic styles, and accents of organic materials. Technology drives many of the kitchen trends as consumers demand accommodation for all of their electronic devices in the kitchen and updated appliances with smart features. Charging stations, video, and emergency power are all trending.

Cleanliness: easy-to-clean surfaces and countertops that are sanitary and non-porous. The current strong demand for quartz is expected to continue, as are the popularity of larger-format tile or slabs with less grout, and touchless faucets.

Sustainable design: 100% LED lighting; a dedicated recycling area; low-E windows and doors; Energy star/efficient products; VOC-free paint; products with recycled materials

OUTDOORS WILL BE LET IN

A little sunshine on our faces and a hug from a loved one will never be taken for granted again, if one thing is clear, it’s that having a large window or a doorway into a greener space is a must. This could be a window with a box full of herbs, a pair of French doors leading onto a small vegetable patch, or just a balcony with a chair so you can enjoy fresh air.”

An increase in demand for outdoor living space projects, including outdoor kitchens, fire pit areas, and enhanced outdoor seating and weather protection. I have seen so many people u have taken balconies inside rooms have converted them back to balconies as they have understood the importance of outdoor places and fresh air, by adding green in the form of plants and vertical gardens and in turn have become the most used spaces during the pandemic.

What we also feel is the need of more open kitchens ,Coupled with the open layout comes the trend for large islands that can also function as dining tables. That relates to another trend, to actually remove traditional stand-alone kitchen tables. Instead, built-in comfortable seating and conversation areas are in demand, as are spaces for working from home and doing schoolwork.

KITCHENS WILL BE COSIER AND MORE LIVEABLE

For instance, In the past, a wine stain would have been a major problem, but I hope it’ll now be embraced as a reminder of evenings well spent with friends and family, which is something that we took for granted before the pandemic,”

For so long the kitchen has been about perfection, and I hope design will move toward making memories instead—less stress and more laughter. The future doesn’t always mean modern, minimal, and super techy. I think the pandemic has made us more nostalgic for real connection and warmth.”

Technical innovation required in modular kitchens in India.

What designers and clients are looking for in new cabinets are new styles, colors and designs. They want more sizes, different materials, and more functional design with new finishes and easy-to-clean surfaces.

Ventilation and hoods I feel needs new advances. Sinks also need improvements

TECH AID IN KITCHENS

To improve the cooking experience, I see gesture and voice recognition becoming even more prevalent, Your technology will recognize you and allow you to control your appliances to your liking. For instance,   Kitchen Faucet provides filtered and tap water with the push of a button, while other smart appliances (including screens on a backsplash) can recommend recipes, bring up the day’s calendar, and help cook an ingredient efficiently. Refrigerators with smart apps that can let u know whats inside the fridge and help u buy stuff sitting in the comfort of ur car. These technological components will provide peace of mind, allowing people to hone their cooking skills and stay on top of other important to-dos.

 HI TECH LOW TOUCH

Hands-free fixtures and voice-activated solutions will no longer be a luxury item in the kitchen of the (near) future. This includes everything from smart lighting, to touchless faucets, to knock-front drawers and cabinets.

The messy under-sink cabinet that’s long overdue for a makeover will also get an upgrade

WE MAY EVEN SEE SELF CLEANSING COUNTER TOPS IN THE NEAR FUTURE WHO KNOWS.
