Q. How would you describe your journey in this profession?

In simple words, Satisfying, Rewarding & Ongoing.

Q. Being considered as the most iconic & legendary names in the industry, how do you feel?

Am I? I have never thought like this nor considered myself a legend. I simply do my work the way I like & I enjoy it.

Q. Which are your most favourite works?

It is very difficult to choose as each and every one of them comes with a different set of challenges. But, a few of them are really close to my heart. A farmhouse in Bilaspur and the residences in Chhattarpur & Model Town because as much as I enjoyed moulding them into this desired place, they gave me a great deal of experience, granting me a chance to not leave any stone unturned.

Q. What are your thoughts on today’s aspiring architects and interior designers? Your wise words to them?

They all are very talented & fresh in their own ways. They have the best of facilities & humongous opportunities. From what I’ve gathered, I can only say, invest yourself in it for the love of Art, Science & Creativity that this rofession entails rather than looking at it as a mere occupation. Just keep working, be happy and own what you do.

Q. The evolution with time. Describe the journey of women architects/interiors then & now.

Different times have different challenges.
Personally, I feel, initially gender was foremost and then came your talent. But now it is always your talent first regardless of your gender.

Q. Over the years of your historical journey spanning numerous projects national & international, could you count your most challenging & rewarding projects?

Every project comes with it’s own opportunities & obstacles, out of which the Farmhouse at DLF has been one of the most challenging project because turning a cow shed into a liveable luxury farmhouse has been an experience in itself.

Another is a Resort in Corbett, wherein we had no adequate manpower or electricity. Networking & communication was very strenuous. We had to design a space without disturbing the contours, conserve the flora & fauna. Retain the naturally available spring water & use it in water bodies with the help of gravity then further using it for irrigation purposes.

The most recent project which we are working on, a Meditation hall in Kasauli, itself is an iconic building with great architecture value. I am sure it will be a great work to bring that vision into reality.
