British Columbia (B.C.) provincial government’s crown corporation, Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt Ltd (FII India), popularly known as Canadian Wood, successfully convened a seminar in Delhi, which focussed on the subject of ‘Canadian Wood – The Sustainable Solution’. The event, at Le Meridien Windsor, attracted a diverse group of industry and woodworking professionals such as architects, designers, manufacturers, builders who were keen on exploring eco-friendly practices and certified wood species.

 The seminar featured experts from Forestry Innovation Consulting, including Mr. Pranesh Chhibber, country Director, Canadian Wood, Dr. Jimmy Thomas, Assistant Director – Technical Services, Canadian Wood, and Mr. Rambeer Singh Yadav, Canadian Wood. The presentations by these experts provided detailed insights into the versatile nature and sustainable benefits of Canadian Wood species. They also touched upon other aspects of the sustainable forest practices from B.C Canada, including innovative applications and practical methodologies for integrating eco-friendly timber into a wide range of projects.

The presentations highlighted B.C. Canada’s commitment in promoting sustainable practices within the sector. It illustrated how Canadian Wood species, sourced from certified and legally harvested forests, is a lightweight yet strong and versatile material that is both durable and environmentally responsible. Attendees at the seminars learnt about the significant reduction in carbon emissions that is possible to achieve through Canadian Wood species vis-à-vis conventional materials such as concrete. Apart from emphasising on wood as a healthier and environmentally sound alternative, they also highlighted its ability to withstand seismic activities, providing resistance to collapse even during earthquakes or fire incidents.

The seminar showcased projects and products made with B.C. wood species done in the recent past, which includes innovative structures, furniture, doors and handicrafts which demonstrated the versatility, durability and positive environmental impact of Canadian Wood species. Some of the projects that also found its way into the conversation on the Canadian woods transformative impact and sustainability performance to validate the quality and adaptability of the wood sourced by the B.C Canada.

This seminar provided a unique opportunity for professionals and enthusiasts alike to gain insights, exchange ideas with interactive Q&A sessions, and foster collaborations in the ever-evolving world of design.
