Western hemlock was identified as the ideal material for the project and was readily available through a local importer/distributor known as Jagat Decor. Sourced from the sustainably managed forests of British Columbia, western hemlock offers strength, lightweight properties, and a uniform grain that enhances the hall’s visual appeal. The wood’s warm tones contribute to a refined yet welcoming atmosphere, aligning with biophilic design principles that promote well-being and cognitive performance. Additionally, its ease of handling and long-lasting integrity make it well-suited for hightraffic public spaces. By incorporating western hemlock, the Indore Nagar Parishad Assembly Hall sets a benchmark in civic architecture.
