At Oorjaa, where material meets mindfulness, each installation reflects a quiet meditation on nature’s rhythms, its forms, functions, and unfolding beauty. Their latest creation, Aeris, is a sculptural pendant lamp inspired by the poetic stillness of seed pods just before they take flight. Inspired by the moment of germination, when the seed’s layers begin to unfurl just before it sprouts – Aeris captures the quiet beauty of emergence and potential.
Crafted entirely from handmade paper derived from waste banana fibre, Aeris embodies Oorjaa’s ethos of conscious design. Its form emerges through a dialogue between the fragile tactility of paper and the grounding strength of copper wire, together capturing a sense of gentle movement held in suspension. Its warm, translucent glow reveals the textural layers of its sculpted shell, turning illumination into an organic experience rather than just utility.
Best suited for intimate corners, serene bedrooms, or nature-inspired living spaces, Aeris brings in a calm, ethereal quality, almost like a soft breath held in time. It speaks to a growing shift towards biophilic design, where form and function honour natural rhythms. This is installation art not just seen, but felt.
