Asian Paints returns with a fresh new season of Asian Paints Where The Heart Is, and the first episode whisks us into the warm, sunlit corners of Bollywood star Ananya Panday’s cozy yet undeniably glamorous Mumbai home. Viewers are invited into a space defined by soft minimalist design, neutral tones and custom furniture. Her home exudes a unique “Ananya” charm — calm and understated yet infused with a bold elegance that reflects her signature glam aesthetic.
For the first time, the episode brings Ananya and her parents together, presenting two contrasting yet harmonious worlds – the family’s lively, bustling home and Ananya’s tranquil sanctuary. Ananya’s serene apartment, curated with soothing palettes and minimalist décor, symbolizes her personal journey of self-discovery, while the family home reflects the joyous chaos of her childhood. This duality beautifully highlights how Ananya remains deeply connected to her roots while also carving out her own identity in the process of creating her home.
Ananya passionately shares her journey of designing her space, offering viewers décor inspiration that speaks to a variety of tastes. “The idea of home, for me, is a sense of belonging, about feeling like myself. But above all, it always means ‘family,’” says Ananya. Her apartment, located in the same building where her father has lived since 1971, is also where she grew up as part of a joint family. It is infused with memories of familial warmth and creativity. Reflecting on her childhood, she fondly recalls her father’s home videos, which sparked her love for being in front of the camera. “That was my first interaction with seeing myself on screen, and I instantly fell in love with it,” she reveals.
“I have a particular way in which I want to host people. I want them to have a memory. When they think about my house, I want the first word to be ‘warm’.” And warm it is! Ananya’s home exudes serenity and understated luxury, with a cream-and-beige palette. It also features personal touches, like Riot’s corner—a space dedicated to her dog, complete with one of her old t-shirts that has become one of his favourite toys.
The apartment includes exclusive, custom details like wallpaper with handwritten excerpts from a letter and a quirky recipe wall. She shared that the wallpaper was specially made for her space, adding a personal touch that makes her home feel welcoming and cozy for all who enter.
One of the most beloved spots in her home is her sunlit balcony, perfect for quiet mornings with coffee and pancakes. Inside, her thoughtfully curated bookshelf displays her love for reading, while her minimalistic kitchen, designed for functionality and charm, fuels her passion for baking.
While Ananya’s home exudes a minimalist and calming vibe, her parents’ home offers a striking contrast. In a modern French aesthetic, Chunky and Bhavana Panday’s home is bold and vibrant, featuring monochrome flooring and a colourful velvet sofa. Chunky fondly remarks, “The one constant about the house …the energy is so happy in this place. There is some kind of divine intervention in this house.”
Bhavana humorously recalls the chaos of hosting parties at home. “I remember one party where there was cake all over the house, on my couches and their faces. She has destroyed my house a couple of times,” she says with a laugh, referring to Ananya and pointing out the chocolate stains on the couches that refuse to come out.
