We’ve rounded up the top 5 things on our must-see list for the show, so read on for a taste of what’s to come!
THE Park Hotels X Lucas Muñoz Muñoz
Design Mumbai’s collaboration with THE Park Hotels is evolving for 2025. Last year, the boutique hotel group partnered with Dutch industrial designer, Richard Hutten, to develop a hotel room concept driven by contemporary design on-site at the show. This year, it will partner with Spanish designer, Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, known for his raw, experimental approach. Muñoz will build a café using repurposed materials salvaged from THE Park Hotels’ recent refurbishment projects.

When I was invited to collaborate with THE Park Hotels on a café concept for Design Mumbai, my first instinct was not to think in terms of trends, but rather in terms of cycles,” says Muñoz. “Hotels, by their very nature in a competitive and design-centric hub like Mumbai, are responsive to shifting tastes and evolving expectations. They refurbish rooms every few years, update their lobbies, swap out furniture, and refresh aesthetics to remain current/on trend. What is left behind is rarely discussed, but here is where I find the most inspiration.”
Racconti’s Design Mumbai debut
India’s design talent continues to be a driving force at this year’s Design Mumbai. Joining the ranks at Design Mumbai for the first time is Racconti, the first brand in India to forge collaborations with Italian designers for its exclusive collections, setting out to challenge European dominance in design. The self-styled ‘Made in India’ luxury interiors brand, Racconti combines Italian flair with Indian ingenuity to create furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining room and foyer. As part of the S.R. Jindal Group, Racconti protects its collections from public view, so visitors to Design Mumbai will be the first to set eyes on its new collection, Eterno.

Eterno celebrates stillness, soul and the enduring beauty of form. Racconti’s display will serve as an immersive story that invites guests to pause, wander, and listen to what materials whisper when shaped with intent.
Juan Gerstl’s Journey Through India
Visitors to Design Mumbai will step into the show through Travel Through India, an extraordinary entrance tunnel created by artist Juan Gerstl. Constructed from colourful geometric panels of UV-printed aluminium, the installation transforms the movement of people into a riotous spectacle of light, colour, and reflections. Mirrored surfaces multiply and shift each visitor’s reflection, creating a living, ever-changing artwork. Gerstl, whose artistic journey began with an influential early trip to India, describes the installation as a celebration of how travel shapes us, as it reflects the individual journal each person carries inside.

Jaipur Rugs’ Court of Carpets
Jaipur Rugs, the family-owned rug company, prides itself on connecting the outstanding craftsmanship of its over 40,000 artisans (of which 85% are female) with international contemporary culture. For Design Mumbai 2025, the brand will bring one of its most impactful installations yet to the Jio World Garden. Court of Carpets is a recreation of Jaipur Rugs’ 2024 campaign with India’s top tennis player, Rohan Bopanna, The Jaipur Rugs Tennis Championships. The campaign saw three of Jaipur Rugs’ young female artisans take to the carpeted court to play against Bopanna, with a knitted yarn net, tennis balls of New Zealand wool, and tennis rackets strung with bamboo silk.

The Object Edit by Kamna Malik
Design Mumbai is thrilled to partner with Kamna Malik, former Editor of ELLE India, to create The Object Edit. More than a curation of objects, this feature will perform more like a gallery of works, highlighting the discourse between them and their relation to each other as pieces of decorative design. Malik has selected furniture, art, lighting, and functional art objects from 20 studios for their presence, materiality, and craft stories. Participating brands include Objectry, AndBlack, Scarlet Splendour, Abner Lighting, Stem, and Beso, which will be showing its Ramat Gamat Games Collection, including Kalah, a reclaimed teak foosball table. The Object Edit is a moment of calm for lovers of design, offering visitors a chance to slow down, look closely, and feel rather than simply see.
